Assessment and Management of Cardiac Risk

One day -

£68 per person

The course is suitable for qualified nurses and medical staff working in primary or secondary care settings.

Primary and secondary prevention strategies rely on an accurate assessment of cardiovascular risk.

In this one-day course, the current guidelines for practice and evidence base will be applied to a number of clinical scenarios.

The NHS Health Check assesses a range of important risk factors for the prevention of cardiovascular disease. This national priority forms the focus of the course. Various tools will be used to achieve this, including: QRISK2, modified Framingham and JBS2 guidelines.

In addition to the risk assessment tools, you will learn the theories that explain some of the strategies commonly used to enable the person to make the necessary changes to their lifestyle.

Stages of change and health belief models will be discussed. You will learn about the essentials of Communicating Risk following the assessment.
